I met with a client in the city today to drop off his quarterly books. We
parted with a hug. On my way home, it struck me that he was my third client
this week to give me a hug as we said goodbye. I wondered to myself if this was
an odd practice in business, then began to think about the relationships I have
with my clients. We have some pretty amazing people as clients, and many who I
would now consider as friends. Maybe having a cartoon hippo as a logo draws a
certain type of client. Maybe a hug is a sign of comfort and trust. Either way,
I'm treating this as a sign that we're doing something right.
